Y'all know that when you dress as a burrito on Halloween, you get free Chipotle, right? Well, every year my husband and I have debated doing this, but we never did. My coworker, who is as big of a Chipotle lover as we are, insisted that we do it this year. We figured if we hit Chipotle at 4:30, it wouldn't be busy yet. Ha! We went to the one closest to us and the line was almost out the door, so we drove to the one out past the mall. The line was just starting to get long there, so I had enough time to prepare my "costume". Originally I wanted to go full on burrito, but when I asked my husband to wrap me in foil he pulled off a sheet about a foot long, so I gave up on that idea and went as an unwrapped burrito. How do you do that? Well, you take that sheet of foil and tear a strip off the top, then you wrap it around your head like a crown. Our coworker made a foil lid and said, "I'm a burrito bowl!" Husband wrapped his hat in foil.
There were some interesting costumes at Chipotle. No one went full on burrito, but we did see a guy who'd made a chef's toque, and one guy with his head wrapped completely in foil, and two, as my coworker put it, Chipotle whores. They were wearing skimpy outfits with strategically placed foil. Oy. The people behind us weren't wrapped up, so we offered them our foil roll, but they politely declined.
I bet the people at Chipotle hate free burrito day. By the time we got to the counter they were all, let's just get these moronic foil wasters out of our store. I think they must have been peeved at us especially, because they had two tortillas waiting on the counter with rice in them and my husband and our coworker both got bowls and I got tacos. I wonder if they pay them over time, or time and a half, because their workload has to triple on free burrito days. Hm.
